Hi everyone, I thought I’d talk about my first virtual writing retreat experience! The amazing writer Lelita Baldock organised a ‘Winter Writing Retreat’ this past weekend – you may well have seen her posts about it on social media. I’ve attended a few retreat days before, but this was my first time being able to dedicate a whole weekend to writing – or so I hoped anyway! A few unexpected commitments meant I couldn’t make every session live or have as
This short story was originally published this blog post in September 2018. It was in response to the #TurtleWriters image prompt below, but it didn’t transfer to my new site. I thought I would edit it and re-post it. Thanks again to @RosettaYorke and @HillBillyHorror for the prompt! Warning that this short story is a horror. There’s nothing gory about it but it might not make for the ‘nicest’ reading! I stared at the ruins of the church, eerily stood in
Hello all! It’s finally time for my Lottie’s Locket announcement! I’ve been looking forward to giving you a publication date for Lottie’s Locket, as well as showing you the final front cover design. Here is the gorgeous front cover that my wonderful publishers designed. I couldn’t be more delighted with the job the design team at Olympia did. 🙂

After she had almost given up hope that he would come? It is typical that he would

Lottie’s Locket is a fantasy/murder mystery for a Middle Grade (MG) audience. MG, broadly speaking, is in between children’s fiction and Young Adult fiction (12-17). I think it will be on the upper end of MG, so my ideal audience would be 10-12 year olds. Here’s
This is a story I scribbled down yesterday afternoon (Sun 22nd September 2019) after my eye caught how the raindrops sparkled on my patio window doors. I’m usually a plotter, but this story just seemed to emerge and develop all on its own. It was fun to try writing in present tense for a change too! I didn’t have an idea yet for a blog post for today, so thought I would share this with you so you can get a
