Hi everyone, today I thought I’d tell you a bit more about my NaNoWriMo 2023 project. If you’re unfamiliar, NaNoWriMo (Nano for short) is an annual writing competition. Writers challenge themselves to write about 1600 words every day throughout November, with the goal of having a 50k novel by the end of the month. You can find out more info about the challenge here. This is my 6th year of doing NaNoWriMo and I’ve been excited to get started today! My
April is here, so I thought it would be a good time to tell you about Camp NaNoWriMo and give you an author update. Camp NaNoWriMo If you don’t know, Camp NaNoWriMo is a flexible version of November’s NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). While in November the general aim is to write 50k of a new novel, in Cam5p NaNo writers can choose their own goals and continue to work on existing projects. For April Camp NaNo, my goal is to
This week on the blog, I thought I’d talk about finding out about yourself as a writer. Particularly, how NaNoWriMo an teach you about your individual writing style. I recently decided to take the plunge and commit to doing July Camp NaNoWriMo. One of the reasons I love doing Nano is because it allows me to branch out ad try something new. Especially since a lot of this year so I’ve been in editing/revision mode. A distinctive voice as a writer
April Camp NaNoWriMo has landed! Or rather, it landed on the 1st April (I’m a bit late to the party). Writers partake in a virtual retreat, a more flexible version of the November event. Writers can choose their own goals rather than the common goal of wanting to hit 50k words in a month during November. (More info about April Camp NaNoWriMo can be found here.) I’m away later on in April, so I thought I’d do a ‘mini’ goal for
Well, I did it – I won NaNoWriMo 2021! I hit the 50k mark around 11am on the 30th November. By the time I typed ‘the end’, I had a final word count of 51,122. What I wrote for NaNoWriMo I really enjoyed writing this story! It was set in Edwardian times (specifically 1909). It’s a historical mystery romance, that starts out with my main character Penelope having just got married to David as part of an arranged marriage. They once
It’s NaNoWriMo time again! Where writers from all over the world flex their typing fingers and prepare for frenzied word sprints and quite possibly a few late nights. If you’re unfamiliar, NaNoWriMo (Nano for short) stands for ‘National Novel Writing Month’ where participants from all over the world commit to writing everyday throughout the month of November. The goal is to have a 50k word novel by the end. It will be my fourth time participating in Nano so as you
You might already know how much I enjoy NaNoWrimo events! June is nearly over so that means July Camp NaNoWriMo is starting on Thursday, 1st July. I’ve hit my goals for my 4th historical fiction novel and I’m ready to take part! So, this week on the blog, I thought I’d tell you a bit about my project. About NaNoWriMo If you’re not familiar with the term, NaNoWriMo stands for ‘National Novel Writing Month’ and it’s an online writing challenge. Participants
Yesterday, at about 10 past 5, I finally closed the lid of my laptop. I’d just finished my science fiction project for NaNoWriMo2020! I had actually ‘won’ by crossing the finish line with 50k much earlier in the day, but I was determined to also finish the project itself by the end of the day. Hence why this blog post which normally comes to you on a Monday is coming on a Tuesday – I just couldn’t face doing any more
NaNoWriMo is here! It’s that time again for National Writers Writing Month! Writers all over the world started adding words to their projects. The challenge is to write 1,667 words a day throughout November and therefore to have a 50k by the end of the month. We’re only in day 2 so if you’re interested in the challenge, you can find out more the NaNoWriMo website here. This will be my 3rd time participating! If you’ve been following my writing journey
In the words of Porky Pig, ‘that’s all folks!’ NaNoWriMo is over for another year! Writers all over the world are closing their laptops as well as their eyelids, trying to catch up sleep. If they’re anything like me, November whizzed by as I attempted to write throughout the 30 days of November, so I would have a brand-spanking new 50K novel by the end of the month. This was my second attempt doing the main event in November. It follows
